Intimate Hudson Valley New York Wedding Photographer at M & D Farm
Jackie & Bryan had their intimate wedding at one of the most awesome venues called M & D Farm. M & D Farm is located in Westerlo, New York which is in the Hudson Valley / Catskills region. We loved that they had a smaller wedding with their closest family and friends. And now, with living life with COVID-19, this might just be the new trend for future weddings! So we are all for that!
Aside from the huge harvest moon that perfectly aligned with their wedding, Jackie & Bryan had a really cool rocker/gothic boho style theme. So their wedding attire was on point as well as their wedding details. In addition, they are both very talented artists of their own: Jackie being a tattoo artist (check out her work here) and Bryan is a filmmaker (check out his Instagram here).
Jackie & Bryan drew inspiration from Harry Potter, Star Wars, Game of Thrones and Lord of the Rings amongst others for their wedding details. They both sport some beautiful tattoos and the best part about them is that they are super sweet people. Love tattooed couples! (We’re still planning our future tattoos & love to see some inspiration). During our first meet up, we felt so comfortable around them. Above all, they were so much fun and comfortable in front of the camera which gave us plenty of great footage.
Sunset Wedding Portraits are the best!
In addition, Jackie & Bryan were up for some drone shots on their wedding day. For instance, usually, we don’t get this opportunity since we are limited on time for portraits. But they were just as excited about it as we were! Woohoo! Therefore, we went out for a second short session during their cocktail hour to get some early evening wedding portraits and some drone shots. To all of our future couples, we highly recommend doing this. It was so much fun and the photos and footage were totally worth it!
Most importantly, we were so inspired by this sweet and creative couple as well as the themes and atmosphere surrounding their wedding. These are some of the things that make our job so much fun and rewarding.
We are wishing a wonderful fairy tale life for these two as they have so much magic to offer…
One of the coolest photos we’ve ever taken!
We had some really sweet creative inspiration for the photo below. It all started on our way home from Jackie & Bryan’s rehearsal dinner when we pulled over to admire the full harvest moon. It was mind-blowing! How cool that it was also Friday, the 13th!? We knew we had to incorporate this moon in a wedding portrait. So we snagged some closeups of the moon from a random parking lot. After that, we were onto their wedding day! During the end of the reception, we all headed back out to grab a photo of them at the venue in the moonlight. To cap off the night, after unloading our gear at our airbnb, we snapped a photo of the spooky night atmosphere. The field was filled with fog amongst the field and trees. As a result, we took one of our most creative and coolest photos yet!
Love tattooed couples!
One of the exciting things about this is that we won the LOOKSLIKEFILM “Wedding Images: Best of 2019” award! It made the “The Most Kickass Wedding Images from 2019 Images List” of 186 out of 62,000 images shared on LOOKSLIKEFILM. Check out the full post here
After that, it came time to make the video. We knew we wanted to do something similar. Therefore, we overlaid the moody moon and portrait footage on top of the still background image (the spooky foggy one). As a result, this sparked off more creative ideas for the edit and we ran with it, creating some video effects that we typically don’t do.
