Brooke & Carter have a love for Outstanding in the Field and wanted their wedding to feel like one of those dinners. If you aren’t familiar, Outstanding in the Field, is a farm-to-table dinner with super long tables usually out on a field. When they discovered their venue, they knew they had to have an Audrey’s Farmhouse wedding at the Greenhouses and that it would be the perfect place to have the wedding of their “outstanding in the field” dreams.
We first met up with Brooke & Carter at their home in Norwalk, Connecticut for their in-home engagement session. You can check out their session here. After their session, we had a fun dinner together. We bonded over our love for kitties–cat people just get each other! After our fun day together, we knew that we were going to have the best time at their wedding and couldn’t wait for it!
We headed to Upstate New York and the weather was just beautiful–perfect for their outdoor wedding ceremony. Brooke & Carter going against the grain (which we love), chose a ceremony location at the Greenhouses at Audrey’s Farmhouse that no one ever used before. WE LOVED IT! Their wedding reminded us of our wedding–they had no bridal party and they walked down the aisle together! We love when couples do things the way they want to and nix all the standard wedding traditions. It’s so important to plan your wedding and do the things that make you both happy versus everyone else. Above all, the wedding day is about you as a couple!
After their sweet ceremony, Brooke & Carter headed to cocktail hour to party with their guests. We always recommend to our couples that they enjoy this part of their wedding day! Then they opened up the barn doors to reveal the AMAZING greenhouse reception space. They had long wooden tables setup just like their favorite farm to table dinner events. The flowers by Hops Petunia here were just absolutely gorgeous!
One thing that’s pretty awesome about summer weddings, is the opportunity to head out during the reception for some sunset portraits. The light at sunset is probably the most dreamiest of the day and we think it’s super important to try and snag about 15 minutes for photos & video. It’s also a nice time to take a little break from the action and be together! After dinner, we headed across the street where the sun was setting for some of those sunflare photos.
Brooke & Carter continued the theme of changing it up and had their first dance and quick unannounced cake cutting. They were all about the party–especially getting down on the dance floor! haha They are seriously so much fun! And we love when our couples invite us to stay and party with them after we’re technically done the for night. We really feel like we’re at our friends wedding with just the added bonus of capturing it 🙂
