We still remember the excitement of getting the email from Kyle & Christina about the possibility of being their Iceland Elopement Photographer & Videographer. Almost immediately, we wrote them back with our fingers and toes crossed. We had been dying to visit Iceland and experience those gorgeous landscapes for years. After exchanging a bunch of emails, we had a great long call with them. After our call, we were even more excited as we got along with them so well and could tell this was going to be amazing. The next day after our call, we received the best email! Christina & Kyle had chosen us to photograph and film their Iceland wedding!!! OMG we couldn’t have been happier.
They both wanted to hang out in person, which we absolutely love, as we want to get to know our couples as much as possible. We met up for dinner and drinks at Borough Brewhouse and talked for hours!! It was the best time ever! We kept in contact along the way and decided to make a date for another hang out. They came over to our place for some drinks and of course, we hung out for hours again! We pretty much felt like we knew them for a long time already! It’s so great when you all can connect and have a good time.
Kyle’s sister Rachel and her boyfriend, Kelton were there to support them on their big day. They were super fun and it was so nice to have them there to assist them throughout their wedding. The day of their wedding started with a little drama…the wedding planner’s tire got a flat! It’s usually the case that something happens to make your wedding day a little later even for elopements! haha! Luckily, Pink Iceland made a call to Iceland’s super quick road service and it was fixed in a jiffy! Rachel and Kelton helped keep the relaxed vibe and making us all laugh while Christina got ready. It gave us more time to get ready which is always nice!
We started the day with their first look at their airbnb and then headed to the Fjaðrárgljúfur Canyons for their ceremony. Pink Iceland was able to get permission from the owner to have their ceremony at a location at the Fjaðrárgljúfur canyon that is closed for visitors which was pretty amazing. There are no words to describe the beauty of this place. We were in awe! Christina & Kyle had a pagan ceremony with fire and beer–so cool!
After their ceremony, we traveled around to epic locations in Iceland including Stjórnarfoss and the Lava Fields. It rained here and there but they didn’t mind at all! Nothing was stopping them from enjoying their portrait time in Iceland. Kyle & Christina portrait session was followed by a picnic arranged by Pink Iceland which included champagne, chocolate, strawberries and special Icelandic donuts. Yumm!
The day ended with a delicious dinner at the Hotel Klaustar . We chatted about meeting up the next day to travel together and get more epic photos. The next morning we woke up super early and met them at their airbnb in Kirkjubæjarklaustur. We drove along the Ring Road and stopped off at any location that looked pretty…which was very hard because everywhere we looked was jawdroppingly beautiful. The two major locations we visited were the Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon and the Black Diamond Beach. Kyle and Christina were definitely the stars of the show there which everyone taking their photo and posing with them as we walked along the beach! haha!
Then, sadly, it was time to say goodbye to them as they continued their journey further north while we stayed in Southern Iceland. We hugged goodbye but we kept in contact the rest of the week while we were all there. It was so much fun giving each other updates and tips along the way.
We can’t thank Kyle & Christina enough for bringing us along for their amazing Iceland wedding and having us be their Iceland Elopement photographer and videographer. These are memories that will be always be with us and we’re so thankful for this opportunity. Not only did we capture their wedding, but we had the best time getting to know them and gained two new friends 🙂
